Alfie is local-first: no bank connection, no advertising, no third-party analytics, no generative AI advice, and on-device receipt recognition.

The short version

Alfie Budget is designed to keep budgeting private. Apex Radius does not operate an Alfie account or financial-data server, does not receive your budget, receipt, merchant, note, or category data, and does not use advertising identifiers or third-party analytics on either platform.

Alfie stores its working budget on the device and can use only the private sync for that operating system. Receipt recognition runs on the device. Alfie is a local, authored assistant and is not backed by a generative AI service.

Information Alfie processes

• Budget amounts, categories, goals, recurring items, and activity you choose to enter.
• Receipt photos you choose to scan and the text Alfie recognizes from them on device.
• Product barcodes you choose to scan, and — only if you separately consent — the barcode number sent to the Open Food Facts lookup described below.
• Reminder preferences used to schedule local notifications on your device.
• Local settings such as tutorial progress, appearance, and optional privacy-lock preferences.
• Purchase and subscription status supplied by Apple through StoreKit or, when Android is released, by Google through Google Play Billing. The stores process transaction and payment details under their own terms.

How information is used

The app uses your information only to calculate and display your budget, save your chosen settings, recognize receipts, schedule reminders, restore your place, and determine whether premium editing is available.

Alfie does not connect to banks, import financial accounts, sell data, profile you for advertising, or send promotional notifications.

Apple edition: device, iCloud, and StoreKit

The Apple edition stores the working copy on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac. Private iCloud storage can help recover routing and app data across Apple devices signed in to the same Apple Account. Apple controls iCloud and StoreKit under Apple's own privacy terms.

Face ID, Touch ID, or device-passcode authentication, when enabled, is handled by the Apple operating system. Alfie receives only the authentication result and does not receive or store biometric data.

Android edition: local storage and optional Drive app data

The Android edition is coming soon. Its Room database keeps the working copy on the device, and local-only use remains available. If you choose Android sync, Alfie requests the narrow Google Drive app-data permission and stores versioned sync data in the hidden Drive appDataFolder for Android devices only.

Background synchronization is best effort rather than real time and may be delayed by Android power management. Receipt images stay local and are not synchronized; confirmed extracted fields and their ledger records may synchronize when optional Drive sync is enabled.

Android biometric or device-credential authentication, when enabled, is handled by Android. Alfie receives only the authentication result and does not receive or store biometric data.

Platform boundary

Apple budgets do not sync to Android and Android budgets do not sync to Apple. Apple purchases do not unlock Android, and Google Play purchases do not unlock Apple. There is no shared Alfie account, shared login, financial-data server, or cross-platform migration.

Camera, photos, and notifications

Camera or photo-library access is requested only when you choose a receipt action. Recognition is performed on device, and no transaction is added until you confirm the editable review. Android receipt images remain local even when optional Drive sync is enabled.

Notification access is requested only after you create a reminder. Alfie schedules local reminders with private copy that omits financial amounts by default.

Optional barcode product lookup

Barcode scanning itself runs entirely on device. If you choose the optional name lookup, the payload sent to the Open Food Facts public database contains the product barcode number plus static app identity so the service can suggest a product name. Ordinary request metadata, such as an IP address and request timing, may be observed by Open Food Facts and its network providers. The payload contains no budget, receipt, price, tracking identifier, or account data. Declining or cancelling the lookup keeps the lookup on device — you can always enter the product name manually. Open Food Facts is operated by a non-profit under its own privacy terms.

Retention and deletion

Your local information remains until you edit it, delete it in Alfie, remove the app and its data, or use the in-app data deletion control. Apple data held in private iCloud may remain according to your iCloud settings and Apple's retention behaviour. When Android is released, its device-only delete, Drive disconnect, and Android cloud-data delete controls will remain separate actions.

Apex Radius may retain support messages you send to us only as long as reasonably needed to answer the request, maintain support history, protect the service, and meet legal obligations.

Children, security, and changes

Alfie Budget is a general-audience budgeting tool and is not directed to children. Do not enter information you are not authorized to store.

We use platform security controls and least-privilege access, but no device or cloud system is risk-free. We may update this policy when either edition, Apple or Google services, or legal requirements change.

Your choices

• Use Alfie without enabling camera, photo, notification, or privacy-lock permissions.
• Review or revoke permissions at any time in the settings for your Apple or Android device.
• Export supported budget data before deletion where the app offers that control.
• Contact support@apexradius.ai with a privacy, access, correction, or deletion question.
